Giftbag tutorial

För den som vill göra en sådan här presentpåse själva kommer nu en beskrivning. Jag har utgått från ett 12 tums papper. Min påse är gjord enligt måtten nedan, men själva höjden på påsen kan du välja själv genom att justera måttet som finns till vänster på skissen (21,5 cm).

For anyone wanting to make this gift bag, here's a short tutorial. The measurements are adapted to a 12 inch paper, I used the measurements as in the image below, but note that the height of the bag can be adjusted by changing the measurement on the left side (where it says 21,5 cm).

Biga de prickade linjerna och använd en sax för att klippa in jacken i nederkant samt klipp bort den lilla fyrkanten i det nedre högra hörnet.

Use a bone folder along all the dotted lines, and a pair of scissors to cut the short lines at the bottom, and cut off the small square in the lower right hand corner, we won't need that.

Använd dubbelhäftande tejp eller en tunns träng lim längs den smala tabben (0,5 cm). Pressa den andra kanten över och tryck tills limmet fastnat.

Use double-adhesive tape or even a tiny string of glue for the overlap (marked 0,5 cm). Press it firmly against the other edge and hold until it's firmly stuck.

Öppna upp påsen i nederkant och vik in kortändarna. Långsidorna viks in över varandra, jag använde bara en bit dubbelhäftande tejp precis längs ena ytterkanten, men beroende på hur tunga saker påsen ska hålla för så kan man behöva lite mer tejp eller rentav lim.

Open up the bag and fold in the tabs to create the bottom. First fold in the short edges, and then the long ones with a slight overlap. I added double-adhesive tape but you may need to add more tape or even glue depending on how heavy your gift is :)

Pressa ner långsidan över den andra så att du får en botten.

Press one of the long edges firmly over the other.

Vänd på påsen. Med ett enkelt grepp trycker du in kortsidorna så att du kan klämma ihop påsen upptill.

Turn the bag and use your index finger to squeeze and press from the side so you can close the bag.

Vik över på lämpligt ställe och dekorera precis som du vill.

Fold the bag where you see fit and decorate as you please.

Här ser man att påsen jag vek idag är något kortare än den jag visade tidigare.

Here you can see that the bag I made today is slightly shorter than the previous one.

Image transfer tutorial

I gårdagens inlägg lovade jag att jag skulle komma med en tutorial på bild

överföring med akrylfärg i dag.....så här kommer den!

In yesterday's blog post, I promised that I would show a tutorial on image

transfer using acrylic paint  ..... so here it is!

Här har jag använt en bild från ett av Reprints klippark som ska överföras till en bit 

linnetyg. Tänk på att välja motiv utan text eftersom bilden kommer att bli spegelvänd.

 I have used a vintage picture from a Reprint paper to be transferred to a piece of

linen cloth. Remember to choose images without text because the image will be reversed.

Jag använder vanlig akrylfärg som medium, kom ihåg att färgen man använder kommer

att synas igenom bilden så en vit (eller väldigt ljus kulör) passar bäst.

I use regular acrylic paint as a medium, remember that the color you choose will

 "show through" the image so white acrylic (or a very light shade) will work best.

Måla ett rejält lager akrylfärg över bilden du valt.

Apply a thick coat of paint...

Det gäller att vara ganska snabb, färgen får inte börja torka..

You have to be pretty quick, hurry up pressing the image against the fabric 

(with the painted side facing the fabric) before the paint starts to dry

Pressa fast bilden på tyget du valt, jag använder en brayer för att verkligen försäkra mej

om att det inte finns några luftbubblor kvar.

Låt akrylfärgen torka !!! Bäst resultat får man om den får torka minst 12 timmar.

I'm using a brayer to ensure that there are no air pockets...

Let it to dry for at least 12 hours!!!

När tyget och pappret är riktigt torrt och akrylfärgen har fått chansen att härda ordentligt är det dax att ta bort pappret. Blöt papperet, då kommer pappret att lösas upp och bara själva motivet bli kvar.

When the fabric and the paper is dry and the acrylic paint has had a chance to cure

 properly, it is time to remove the paper. Wet the backing paper well ....

Gnugga försiktigt bort papperet....

and then rub it away to reveal the image.

Fortsätt att gnugga tills allt papper är borta och motivet syns.

Keep  on rubbing untill all the backing paper is gone.

Lägg gärna ett tunt lager av tex Glue N Seal, Glossy Accents eller ett decoupage lim över

bilden för att skydda ytan. Tekniken funkar precis lika bra med en laser utskrift....

så varför inte skriva ut ett foto och överföra det på en canvas ??? 

(Glöm inte att bilden blir spegelvänd så det kan vara en bra idé att spegelvända

din bild innan du skriver ut den)

Apply a thin layer of  Glue N Seal, Glossy Accents or decoupage glue over

image to protect the surface. This technique works just as well with a laser printout ....

 so why not print a photo and transfer it on a canvas?? It will look like a real painting....

(Just remember that the picture will be reversed so you might want to mirror your picture 

before printing it out)

Spectrum Noir tutorial

Hi everyone!
Out of respect for all our foreign readers I´m gonna do this blog post all in English. But I guess that you Swedish readers won´t have any difficulty with reading this either! ;D

So today I´m gonna try to show you how I use the Spectrum Noir pens. Don´t hesitate to ask me anything if you wonder about something. Just use the comment field below. I hope that you get some ideas...

Let´s begin with a little presentation about the Spectrum Noir pens. It´s an alcohol based, acid free and fast-drying pen that comes in 168 colors.  You start with buying the pen sets that each has 6 colors in different shades. One of the sets are for skin color. There´s totally 12 of these sets and gets you 72 markers that gets you really far. None are duplicate in any of the sets so you don´t have to worry about getting the same color twice! Besides the small sets there are the 24 pen sets that comes in four different  color schemes. Here´s some photos so that you´ll understand it better:

All pens are refillable and you can change the nibs too!

So here´s my little humble guide to how I color with Spectrum Noir...

First of all I recommend you strongly to print out this little chart from Crafter´s Companion home page so that you can see what colors you have:

Yep, that´s my chart and I got all the 72 start colors! 

Next - let´s talk paper and ink....For best result you should use Neenah paper or Ultra smooth premium card stock from Crafter´s Companion. The best ink pads by far is Memento. So I stamped a couple of motifs from Reprint:

SKIN

For the skin I use the following colors - FS2, FS3, FS6 and TN2:

1. Start with coloring all the skin with the lightest color - FS2
2. Use the darkest for where you should expect shadows - TN2.
3. To blend the colors I use FS3 going over the edges between the darkest and the lightest moving the pen in circles.

Brown hair 

I use EB2, GB8 and GB10:

1. As with the face, start with coloring the hair with your lightest color - EB2. I forgot to take a photo of that-sorry.
2. Next step is using the darkest - GB10 - like around the face and picking strands of hair (this is photo no.1).
3. To even out the colors use GB8.

Coloring clothes.

What I try to show here is that I use several different shades of the same color to get the effect that I want. Whatever color you want - choose at least 3 different shades. I wanted her to have something with a summer feeling so I chose turquoise - BT1, BT2 and BT4.

1. The same procedure once again...First the lightest one - BT1.
2. Now the darkest for shadows - BT4. 
3. Use BT2 to even out the sharp edges.
4. On the edges of the apron, socks and lace I used EB1.

Here´s the result:

Blonde hair:

I use CT2, CT3, CT4 and GB8.

1. Start with CT2 - the lightest - all over.
2. Next is GB4 where  you want it to be darkest.
3. Now blend them together using CT3 and CT4.

I didn´t photographed coloring her clothes, but I used the same technique as for the other girl. Personally I never use the blender pen except when it comes to correcting colors that goes stray ie. outside the lines. I prefer using many different shades for this.

The last girl I used for a tag and I think it looks alright to me... ;D

Färga om!

Har du fina blommor som du vill använda till dina alster, men tycker inte att de passar i färgerna? Gör som jag - färga om dom! Jag ska ge några exempel nedan och som du kommer att se så går det att göra med vilka nyanser som helst.
När jag ska färga om något tycker jag att det är toppen att använda Distress Stains. Det är bara att "dutta" på det som ska färgas och det går att få såna fantastiska färgskiftningar genom att blanda flera olika.
Distress Stains finns i flera olika nyanser:

Vill du dessutom ge dina blommor ett fint skimmer så kan du tillverka din egen mist. Blanda en knivsudd av valfri nyans Perfect Pearls i en mini-mister tillsammans med vatten - fyll inte ända upp! Droppa sedan i den nyans du vill ha av Distress Ink refill - ju fler droppar desto mer intensiv färg.... Skaka om ordentligt! Nu har du en perfekt mist - och det bästa av allt är att du kan göra en mängd olika nyanser!

Den här infärgningstekniken funkar såklart även till mer än bara blommor - andra pappersdetaljer, band etc.

Tyvärr syns inte det fina skimret så bra på bilderna, men det är riktigt fint i verkligheten! 

Till just de här blommorna använde jag nyanserna Wild Honey, Vintage Photo och Broken China.

Ett trick för att göra en blomma med stjälk är att utgå från en rosknopp och

bygga upp rosen på den.

Börja med det ensamma bladet och limma det på rosknoppen...

Fortsätt med blomdelen med två blad...

Böj ut kronbladen med hjälp an något runt, tex. skaftet på en pensel

Bend the petals outwards....

Klipp upp blomman en bit in mot mitten så att bladen lättare ska kunna

"dra i hop sig"

Kanterna har "duttats" med lite akrylfärg (Pearl) för att få lite skimmer.

Dab the edges whith acrylic paint (Pearl)

Dra ett embossingverktyg (Stylus) längs med ytterkanten...

Det finns embossingmattor, men jag har använt en bit av en musmatta som

underlag :)

Use an embossing tool, drag it close to the edge to make the petal "curl up".

Use a soft surface, like an embossing mat....I used a piece of an old mousemat :)

.....runt alla bladen så att dom drar i hop sig.

Emboss all the petals.....

Till slut ser dom ut så här.

Limma ihop delarna, jag använder oftast smältlim men det går bra med vilket

lim som helst, rekomenderar något som fastnar fort ex. Scrappy Glue

Som blad har jag stansat ut några delar från Regal Crest, också i Mullberry papper

här vårgrön som distressats i kanterna med Forest Moss.

with Forest Moss on the edges.
