Background Technique Workshop: distress inks and stencils

Hiya everyone,

as promised last week I've created a little workshop for you on how to work with distress ink and stencils to create a great background:

1. Take a blank sheet of paper or any high quality design paper you like. Make sure the paper isn't coated or glossy. I suggest the paper by Reprint as they are not only beautiful but also high quality and able to soak up the extra liquid of the ink.

2. Place a stencil of your choise on the paper. Make sure the table you're working on is covered with some old newspaper or foil as it will be hard to get the paint off the table.

3. Use a sponge dabber, small sponge or one of these fancy mini ink blending tools from the reprint shop.

4. Choose any distress ink you like. You can even pick several colors if you like. I went for Evergreen Bough and Weathered Wood, which you can also find in the store. Make sure to start with the brighter color and hold the sponge upright to add the ink. Start by making little circles from the outside towards the middle of the paper so the colors will blend even more nicely.

5. You're actually already done by now, but if you like, you can even add another layer by moving the stencil a bit or choosing a differnt stencil to work with.

6. Take another color and just let the magic happen...

With a simple tulip

Så här dags brukar ju tulpanerna vara krispiga, fina och finnas i en hel uppsjö av fräscha färger. Jag gillar tulpaner, i all dess enkelhet!
Kortet är också fint i all dess enkelhet. Här är återigen några favoriter ur Reprints Basic Collection-papper. Det går helt enkelt inte att låta bli dem!

This time a year the tulips usually are crispy, fine and comes in a great variety of fresh colors. I like tulips, in all its simplicity!
The card is also nice in all its simplicity. Again, I have used a few favorites from Reprints Basic Collection paper. It is simply impossible to resist them!

Stämpelmotivet är så himla fint med lite färg på blomman. Jag har valt att lägga till prickar på två sidor om motivet, för att halvt rama in det lite.

The stamp motif is just cute with some color on the flower. I have chosen to add dots on two sides of the motif, to frame it a little.

The beat of your heart...

Hiya everyone,

it's been a long time since my last post here. Life's just been busy and I wasn't really able to make time for crafting. My plan for the rest of 2017 is to just make some daily time for myself, for crafting and for things I enjoy - such as playing with the great items from Reprint.

My 1st project this year is a square card which I've topped with the beautiful Reprint paper. I've picked the pale pink with the hearts and the grey dots. The paper is layered and I just ripped the edges in order to have a smooth overlay. The ripped area is cover with ink and glitter.

In order to add some depth I've used a stencil and some distress ink on the pink paper. I used the distress ink from Ranger called candied apple and shaded lilac. I will make a little workshop for next week in case you haven't used stencils before. It's really easy and you can create a great effect.

The stamp is one of my faves from Reprint - the beat of your heart is the rythm of your soul - so true!

Beacuse you are there!

Jag har en vän som jag uppskattar extra mycket just nu, och det tänkte jag berätta för henne. Med dessa etiketter kommer man långt! Jag har bara lagt till en text som passar bra. Texten har egentligen en ram runt i original, men jag har bara färgat in texten när jag stämplade.

I have a friend that I appreciate a bit extra right now, and I thought I would tell her. With these labels you get far! I've just added a text that fits well. The text actually has a frame around on the original, but I have only colored the text when I stamped.

Och med några detaljer som blommor och halvpärlor behövs det inget mer.

And with some flowers and pearls you don´t need anything else.

Bright colors

Nu är det nytt år, alla julsaker är borttagna, och jag är sugen på FÄRG! Jag faller ofta tillbaka på gamla favoriter och de första färgerna av Basic Collection ligger mig fortfarande varmt om hjärtat.

Däremot ville jag göra layouten lite annorlunda och efter att ha flyttat runt bitarna ett slag hamnade de så här. För att markera kvadraterna ritade jag ramar runt lite slarvigt.

Now it's a new year, all Christmas decorations are removed, and I'm eager to use bright COLORS! I often fall back on old favorites and the first colors of the Basic Collection are still dear to my heart.

However, I wanted to make the layout a bit different and after moving around the pieces a while they ended up like this. To mark the squares I drew the frames around a bit sloppy.

Stämpeln med paketen tror jag egentligen är en julstämpel, men färglagd med olika starka färger blir det en fin hög med födelsedagspresenter! Dem har jag också "slarvmålat" för att få lite liv i dem.

The stamp with the packages I think is really a christmas motif, but colored with different bright colors, it became a nice pile of birthday gifts! I also painted the gifts a bit "sloppy" to get some life into them.

Christmas ornament

December är en intensiv månad för många, och det kan vara svårt att få tid över för sånt man verkligen vill göra. Men när man väl får till det så inser man hur roligt det är och att det faktiskt ger en energi!
Här är en liten pendyl (eller ask om man låter bli att limma en flik) i ett av Reprints papperskollektioner. Jag hittade två matchande band som jag gjorde en stor rosett av runt upphängningssnöret.

December is a busy month for many, and it can be difficult to find time for the things you really want to do. But once you get into it you realize how fun it is and that it actually provides energy!
Here is a small ornament (or a box if you avoid to glue a tab) in of Reprints paper collections. I found two matching ribbons that I made a big bow with around the hanging rope.

Snöflingan i metall passade bra att hänga på. Det blir mer intressant med fler material tycker jag. Denna prydnad är fin att hänga i fönstret, flera i grupp eller kanske i granen som en modern smällkaramell... Vad tycker du?

The snowflake metal charm fitted well to hang on. I think it gets more interesting with other materials. This ornament is nice to hang in the window, several in a group or maybe in the Christmas tree as a modern cracker... What do You think?

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

Nu i juletider är det självklart att vi vill inspirera med Reprints julpapper och julstämplar så här kommer ett julkort från mig:

Since it´s Christmas season we wanna inspire you with using the Christmas papers and stamps from Reprint.  So here´s a Christmas card from me:

Framsidan:/Front:

Jag stansade ut ett stjärnhål i min kortbas och chalkade kanterna. Därefter monterade jag det mönstrade pappret bakom så att det kikade fram. 

I made a star shaped hole in my card using a die cut and used chalk around the edges. Then I mounted the patterned paper on the inside of the card making it peeking out through the star.

Insidan:/Inside:

Insidan klädde jag med baksidan på det mönstrade pappret. Jag stämplade den fina jultexten på vit cardstock som jag sedan stansade ut med en metalldie.

I covered the inside of the card with the back of the patterned paper. I stamped the wonderful Christmas quote on white cardstock which I cut out with another metallic die.
